Chapter 2 - The Ultimate Betrayal

The legal document in David’s hand bore the unmistakable seal of a family court judge.
I stared at it, completely unable to comprehend what was happening.
David handed the paper to the lead police officer with a perfectly practiced look of sorrow.
He told the officer that I was an unstable, abusive mother who had forced Sophie to steal the phone.
He claimed he was only adjusting the jacket on the video because he was trying to quietly put the phone back.
My mind reeled at the sheer audacity of his lie.
Preston eagerly jumped into the conversation, confirming every word of David’s fabricated story.
They had planned this entire scenario together down to the smallest detail.
The officer looked down at the emergency custody order David had just handed him.
The document granted David immediate, temporary custody of Sophie due to my alleged criminal behavior.
I screamed that they were both lying and begged the police to look closer at the video.
David stepped forward and tried to grab Sophie out of my arms.
Sophie shrieked in terror, burying her bloody face into my neck and begging him to stay away.
The officers intervened, pushing David back and calling for paramedics to treat Sophie’s head wound.
I told the police that my family was trying to frame me and kidnap my child.
The lead officer looked at me with pity, but he held up the signed court order.
He explained that his hands were tied by the judge's signature until a formal investigation was completed.
The paramedics rushed into the security room and placed Sophie on a stretcher.
I tried to climb into the ambulance with her, but David physically blocked my path.
He told the paramedics that he was the only legally authorized guardian allowed to accompany the minor.
The officers gently but firmly pulled me away from the ambulance doors.
I watched in absolute horror as the doors slammed shut and the vehicle sped away with my crying daughter.
Preston walked up behind me and whispered in my ear.
He said I was finally going to lose everything I cared about.

I turned around and slapped my brother across the face with all the strength I had left.
The police immediately grabbed my arms and placed me in cold steel handcuffs.
