Chapter 2 - The Bulletproof Glass

Sebastian didn't hesitate for a fraction of a second.
He shoved me and the stroller violently behind his broad shoulders.
"Get in the gray car parked by the fountain," he roared.
I didn't argue.
I pushed the stroller as fast as my legs could carry me.
Behind me, the sickening sound of flesh hitting bone echoed through the park.
I risked a glance back and saw Sebastian viciously disarm the lead mercenary.
He fought with a brutal, terrifying precision that belonged to the dark side of his family's empire.
I reached his armored sedan, and the electronic locks clicked open automatically as he tossed me the keys.
I strapped the triplets into the spacious backseat, my hands shaking violently.
Sebastian sprinted toward the car, dodging a suppressed bullet that shattered a nearby lamppost.
He dove into the driver's seat and slammed the heavy armored door shut.
The engine roared to life, and we tore out of Central Park.
I looked back and saw Chloe standing perfectly still among the armed men.
She wasn't screaming or running away.
She was calmly handing a tracking device to the lead mercenary.
"Your fiancée just gave them our location," I told Sebastian, my heart pounding.
Sebastian gripped the steering wheel until his knuckles turned white.
"She was never my fiancée," he said coldly.
"She was my grandfather's spy, placed to ensure I never looked for you."
He took a sharp turn, weaving dangerously through Manhattan traffic.
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"To a secure penthouse only my head of security knows about," he replied.
We pulled into a subterranean garage and took a private elevator to the top floor.

But when the elevator doors chimed open, Sebastian immediately drew his weapon.
The heavy steel door to the safehouse was already hanging wide open.
