Chapter 3 - The True Thief

Dominic's entire body violently recoiled as if he had just been struck by a powerful, invisible bolt of lightning.
"She's lying!" Dominic screamed hysterically, scrambling backward on the marble floor away from Amanda's pointing finger.
My father remained completely unfazed, holding out his hand as a security technician handed him a sleek, black tablet.
The massive projector screens that were meant to display Chloe's wedding slideshow suddenly flickered to life.
My father had wirelessly connected the tablet to the ballroom's primary audio-visual system for everyone to clearly see.
The high-definition security footage played on the massive screens, showing a crystal-clear view of the champagne fountain from twenty minutes ago.
The entire crowd watched in dead silence as the video clearly showed Chloe taking off her ring to wash her hands near a decorative basin.
The footage zoomed in closely, revealing Dominic stealthily swiping the massive diamond ring from the table while his sister was completely distracted.
Dominic then casually walked over to Amanda, slipping the million-dollar ring discreetly into her open silver purse.
The undeniable visual evidence hung heavily in the air, completely shattering any remaining trace of Dominic's carefully crafted innocence.
Chloe let out a blood-curdling scream of pure agony, realizing her own beloved brother had intentionally robbed her on her wedding day.
Eleanor stumbled backward and clutched her chest, utterly unable to comprehend that her golden child was a manipulative, calculating thief.
"Why would you do this to your own family?" Chloe sobbed, dropping to her knees in her massive, expensive wedding gown.
Dominic realized he was completely trapped, and his pathetic, sobbing facade instantly dropped into a cold, terrifying glare.
"Because I owe two million dollars to a cartel, and they promised to break my legs if I didn't pay by midnight!" Dominic shouted aggressively.
He arrogantly confessed that he had planned to sell the ring on the black market while letting his family claim the massive insurance payout.
He furiously admitted that he never intended for Chloe to blame me, but when she aggressively pointed the finger, he simply let it happen.
Eleanor completely ignored her son's horrific, criminal betrayal and immediately turned her vicious, hateful eyes back toward me.
"This is entirely your fault, Vivienne!" Eleanor shrieked, pointing her bony finger at my face with renewed, psychotic anger.
"If you were secretly a billionaire this whole time, you should have just paid his debts instead of being so incredibly stingy!" she rationalized insanely.
I stared at the delusional woman in absolute disgust, finally realizing that their family's toxic entitlement possessed absolutely no limits.
"I am officially filing for divorce, and you will not get a single penny of my family's money," I announced with a strong, unwavering voice.
Dominic's eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated panic as he realized his only financial lifeline had just been permanently severed.
He looked around the room wildly, his desperate gaze landing on a tactical officer who was temporarily distracted by the screaming crowd.
In a blur of sudden, unexpected motion, Dominic lunged forward and violently ripped the heavy handgun from the officer's tactical holster.

Before anyone could even react, Dominic sprinted directly toward me with the weapon raised.
He aggressively wrapped his arm around my neck and pressed the cold, steel barrel of the gun directly against my pregnant belly.
