Chapter 7 - The Surgical Suite
The explosion knocked Julian backward against a cabinet of medical supplies.
Three heavily armed mercenaries stormed into the sterile clinic, their weapons raised.
Stefano had used his limitless resources to track the cell phone signal Julian had used to call the doctor.
Dr. Evans bravely stepped in front of the surgical table, raising a scalpel to defend his patient.
One of the mercenaries brutally struck the old doctor with the butt of his rifle, knocking him completely unconscious.
"Take the woman and leave the man for Stefano," the lead mercenary ordered coldly.
Julian saw red.
He grabbed a heavy oxygen tank from the corner of the room and hurled it directly at the nearest attacker.
The heavy metal cylinder smashed into the man's chest, sending him crashing to the floor.
Julian did not hesitate.
He lunged at the lead mercenary, grabbing the barrel of the assault rifle and twisting it violently upward.
A wild burst of gunfire shattered the overhead surgical lights, plunging the room into chaotic, flickering darkness.
Julian delivered a devastating punch to the man's throat, neutralizing him instantly.
He turned to face the final attacker, only to find the mercenary holding a pistol aimed directly at Elena's head.
"Drop your weapons, or she dies right now," the man threatened.
Elena screamed in pain as another massive contraction ripped through her exhausted body.
Julian slowly raised his hands, his eyes darting frantically around the dim room for any advantage.
He noticed the exposed, sparking wires hanging from the shattered light fixture directly above the mercenary.
Julian subtly kicked a metal surgical tray across the wet, sterilized floor.
The tray slid perfectly into the puddle of water surrounding the mercenary's heavy boots.
Julian grabbed the sparking electrical wire and slammed it violently down onto the metal tray.
The high-voltage current surged instantly through the water, electrocuting the final attacker and dropping him to the floor.
Julian rushed to Elena's side, realizing the doctor was still unconscious and the baby was coming right now.
May you like
He had no choice but to deliver his own child in a clinic surrounded by dead men.
"You have to push, Elena," Julian begged, tears mixing with the blood on his bruised face.
