Chapter 7 - The Monaco Breach

The blaring, incredibly loud security alarm filled the luxury penthouse with a truly deafening sense of impending, absolute doom.

Julian immediately drew a heavily concealed, high-caliber firearm and positioned himself fiercely between the elevator doors and the main hallway.

I sprinted frantically to the back luxury bedroom where Sophia and Maya were quietly watching an animated movie.

I quickly locked the heavy reinforced steel door and told them to hide silently inside the massive walk-in closet.

I fiercely promised them I would never let anyone hurt them, desperately holding back my own overwhelming tears of panic.

I grabbed a heavy, solid metal fire extinguisher from the hallway wall, fully ready to fight to the absolute death for my children.

The heavy steel elevator doors finally hissed open loudly at the far end of the long main hallway.

Julian raised his weapon aggressively, shouting a highly stern, terrifying warning for the intruders to freeze immediately.

A single, solitary figure stepped incredibly slowly out of the elevator with both hands raised very high in the air.

It was absolutely not a ruthless mercenary or a highly trained armed assassin.

It was Patricia, Mark's highly arrogant sister, completely drenched in cold sweat and trembling incredibly violently.

She openly sobbed as she frantically explained that she had miraculously managed to escape the estate right before Chloe took the rest of the family hostage.

She had desperately used a private, hidden tracking application on Mark's phone to pinpoint my exact global location.

Patricia fell heavily to her knees, openly begging me to please forgive her for years of cruel jokes and incredibly toxic behavior.

She tearfully confessed that the Vance family had always secretly known Chloe was dangerous, but they ignored the massive red flags because they desperately wanted a male heir.

Julian slowly lowered his weapon, keeping a highly suspicious, highly trained eye on the loudly crying woman.

I walked very cautiously toward Patricia, feeling a highly complex mixture of profound pity and deep, lingering resentment.

I firmly asked her how she had possibly managed to seamlessly bypass Julian's million-dollar, highly encrypted security system.

Patricia looked up at me with incredibly wide, completely terrified eyes.

She whispered incredibly softly that she did not hack the advanced security system at all.

The heavily armed man standing right behind me was the actual person who had unlocked the impenetrable doors.
