Chapter 8 - The Intercept

Claire used her intense momentum to jump clear of the crashing motorcycle.
She hit the wet pavement hard, rolling across the rough asphalt to absorb the brutal impact.
The bike exploded against the concrete barrier in a massive shower of sparks and bright orange flames.
The mercenary in the van stopped firing, assuming the fiery crash had finally finished her off.
But Claire was already on her feet, sprinting across the grassy median toward an intersecting overpass.
She calculated the armored van's exact trajectory on the lower highway below.
She had one impossible, suicidal chance to stop them.
As the black van passed under the bridge, Claire leaped over the railing, plunging into the rainy void.
She landed heavily on the van's slick metal roof, her fingers desperately gripping the rain gutters to stop from sliding off.
The driver heard the massive thud and began swerving violently across all four lanes to shake her loose.
Claire pulled her combat knife and jammed it straight through the thin metal roof to secure her grip.
She crawled toward the front windshield, the freezing wind threatening to tear her away at eighty miles per hour.

She swung upside down over the passenger side window and smashed the glass with her heavy tactical boots.
Before the terrified driver could react, she grabbed the steering wheel and violently jerked it to the right.
