Chapter 7 - The Chase

Claire didn't stay to finish off the treacherous general in the dark.

She scrambled through the pitch-black kitchen and burst out the loading dock doors into the rainy night.

A black armored van was already speeding away down the wet asphalt, carrying her captive brother.

She sprinted toward a parked military police motorcycle, kicking the engine to life with a ferocious roar.

The cold rain pelted her face as she accelerated, weaving aggressively through the panicked traffic leaving the naval base.

She kept her eyes locked on the glowing red taillights of the armored van.

She knew standard military protocols wouldn't apply here anymore.

Vance had the authority to call in local police and label her as the domestic terrorist who attacked the ceremony.

Sure enough, police sirens began wailing in the distance, rapidly converging on her location.

The back doors of the armored van suddenly swung open.

A mercenary appeared in the doorway, mounting a heavy machine gun on a tripod.

Tracer bullets ripped through the night air, tearing up the asphalt mere inches from Claire’s front tire.

She swerved violently, barely avoiding a fatal headshot, but her motorcycle skidded out of control toward the concrete highway barrier.
