Chapter 7 - The Trap

Richard stared at the freshly signed documents, his arrogant smile slowly faltering into a look of absolute confusion.

“What kind of ridiculous nonsense are you babbling about, Claire?” he demanded, leaning forward in his leather chair.

Claire calmly adjusted her tailored jacket, radiating a new, untouchable confidence.

“I spent the entire night reading my grandfather’s original, unaltered trust documents.”

She watched the color drain from her father’s face as the reality of her words truly hit him.

“I know about the forged proxy agreement you created when I was a teenager, Richard.”

By signing away the eighty million dollar trust fund today, she had legally invalidated the original, fraudulent proxy holding the company hostage.

She had sacrificed a massive fortune in cash, but in doing so, she had successfully triggered a hidden reversion clause.

Full controlling interest of the entire logistics empire automatically reverted back to her immediately.

“You have exactly one hour to drop the fake charges against Daniel Brooks,” Claire commanded, her voice like cracking ice.

Richard’s face twisted into an ugly mask of pure, unadulterated rage.

He reached under his heavy mahogany desk and pressed a hidden emergency security button.

“You are a foolish little girl if you think you can walk into my building and take my empire,” he hissed.

The heavy oak doors to the office swung open, and three massive security guards stepped inside.

They weren't the usual corporate security team, but hardened mercenaries wearing tactical gear.

“Take her to the private basement holding room and confiscate all her electronics,” Richard ordered coldly.

One of the mercenaries lunged forward, grabbing Claire roughly by the shoulder.

Claire did not panic, nor did she attempt to fight back against the massive man holding her.

She simply looked at her smartwatch and pressed a small, flashing digital icon on the screen.

“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a deep, calm voice echoed from the open doorway.

Richard and the mercenaries spun around in absolute shock.

Standing in the doorway was Daniel, wearing a sharp suit and looking completely free of his handcuffs.

He was flanked by two stern-faced federal agents wearing dark FBI windbreakers.

“It turns out,” Daniel said smoothly, “that federal judges really frown upon billionaires burning down local businesses to hide embezzlement.”
