Chapter 3 - The Highway Chase

Graham’s knuckles turned completely white as he gripped the leather steering wheel of the armored SUV.

Everett laughed a deeply hollow laugh through the phone, claiming he had already won the long war.

He proudly announced that the local police were currently receiving an anonymous tip about a tragic murder-suicide at the abandoned terminal.

Everett had fully planned for Graham and Claire to die tonight to permanently erase all the evidence of his crimes.

Graham hung up the phone without saying a single word, pressing the gas pedal entirely to the floor.

The massive vehicle roared aggressively down the dark, empty highway leading back toward the wealthy suburbs.

Claire clutched the dashboard tightly, her heart pounding a frantic rhythm against her ribs.

She finally understood why her father had been so terrified during the final weeks of his life.

He had bravely tried to protect her from this exact, terrifying monster.

Graham looked at Claire with a completely new sense of profound respect.

He promised her that they would completely destroy Everett and legally clear her father’s innocent name forever.

Suddenly, a blinding pair of high-beam headlights flared aggressively in their rearview mirror.

A massive, heavily armored black truck was accelerating at a terrifying speed directly behind them.

Before Graham could swerve into the next lane, the heavy truck violently rammed the rear bumper of their SUV.

The violent impact threw Claire forcefully against her seatbelt, stealing all the oxygen from her lungs.

Graham fought the steering wheel desperately, trying to keep the heavy vehicle from spinning completely out of control.

The black truck accelerated again, pulling up aggressively alongside the passenger side of their vehicle.

The dark tinted window rolled down, entirely revealing the cold, scarred face of Julian Sloan.

Julian aimed a heavy automatic rifle directly at Claire’s window and completely pulled the trigger.
