Chapter 3 - The Blood Oath

Marco smiled a deeply cold, arrogant smile as he kept the deadly weapon entirely steady.
He confidently explained that he had successfully intercepted Serena and locked her securely in the underground wine cellar.
He proudly confessed that he was the one who had intentionally set the warehouse fire four years ago to completely eliminate Elena.
Marco believed that love made Damiano incredibly weak, and a weak mafia boss was a severe liability to the business.
He fully intended to execute Damiano tonight and completely take over the entire Conti criminal empire.
Damiano did not show even a single fraction of fear as he stared down the dark barrel of the gun.
He casually took a step forward, completely daring his former best friend to actually pull the heavy trigger.
Marco’s finger tightened nervously on the trigger, slightly intimidated by the sheer, unblinking confidence of his boss.
That tiny moment of hesitation was the absolute only advantage Damiano ever needed.
Damiano moved with the terrifying speed of a predatory shadow, violently sweeping Marco’s legs out from under him.
The silenced pistol coughed quietly, sending a lethal bullet completely harmlessly into the plaster ceiling.
Damiano brutally disarmed the traitor, pressing his heavy leather boot aggressively onto Marco’s throat.
He leaned down and whispered that Marco had just made the final, fatal mistake of his entire miserable life.
Damiano violently knocked Marco completely unconscious with the heavy steel grip of the stolen pistol.
He did not waste a single second, sprinting desperately down the dark servant stairs toward the underground cellar.
He violently kicked the heavy wooden door open, his heart pounding a frantic rhythm against his bruised ribs.
Serena was huddled terrified in the dark, completely wrapping her arms protectively around a crying Lucia.
Damiano dropped the weapon and fell heavily to his knees, gently wrapping his strong arms around both of them.
He softly promised Serena that he would never let anything bad happen to her ever again.
But Serena suddenly pushed him away with incredible force, her hazel eyes completely wide with sheer terror.

She pointed a trembling finger at Damiano's hand and screamed that she finally remembered the man who had burned her alive.
She recognized the unique, heavy gold ring on Damiano's finger as the exact same ring worn by the man who had locked her in the flames.
