Chapter 6 - The Brother's Return

Elias stepped fully into the dim red light, wearing a tailored suit and a cruel, arrogant smile.
"You always were too smart for your own good, Gideon," Elias mocked, stepping closer to the servers.
Gideon kept his gun aimed directly at his brother's chest, his hands shaking with pure, unadulterated rage.
"You and father faked your deaths to run this sick empire from the shadows," Gideon realized out loud.
Elias laughed, casually examining his expensive watch as if he had all the time in the world.
He explained that their father had passed away naturally two years ago, leaving Elias in complete control of the facility.
"Those girls are my property, Gideon, and they hold the keys to a trillion-dollar data empire," Elias stated coldly.
"I will burn this entire building to the ground before I let you take them," Gideon threatened.
Elias signaled his mercenaries, who immediately raised their assault rifles and aimed at Gideon.
"You are not a killer, little brother," Elias sneered, taking another step forward.
Gideon knew he could not win a shootout against professional soldiers, but he was a master of systems.
He blindly reached behind his back and typed a rapid command into his backup terminal.
He initiated a catastrophic power surge directly into the building's main cooling units.
The massive servers instantly began to overheat, sparking violently and filling the room with thick, acrid smoke.
"Grab them!" Elias shouted, coughing as the smoke quickly blinded the mercenaries.
Gideon fired two warning shots, grabbing Ren by the hand and sprinting toward the emergency exit.
Explosions rocked the warehouse as the servers began to literally melt and catch fire.
Gideon pushed through the heavy metal exit door, pulling Ren out into the freezing rain.

He turned around to grab Nova, but the doorway was completely blocked by falling debris and fire.
Through the flames, Gideon watched in absolute horror as Elias dragged a screaming Nova away into the smoke.
