Chapter 4 - The Ghost Protocol

Gideon stared at the glowing red text on his dashboard in absolute disbelief.

His billion-dollar fortune, his properties, and his entire legal identity had been completely wiped out in seconds.

Sienna's employers possessed a level of cyber power that rivaled the most advanced intelligence agencies in the world.

He was now officially a ghost, just as helpless and hunted as the two little girls in his backseat.

"What is wrong?" Nova asked, speaking for the very first time.

Her voice was tiny, musical, and completely heartbreaking.

"Nothing we cannot handle," Gideon lied smoothly, overriding the car's digital locks manually.

He slammed his foot on the gas pedal, tearing out of the garage and into the stormy Seattle night.

He knew he could not take them to any of his known properties or safe houses.

Every single camera in the city would be looking for his face and his license plate.

He drove toward the industrial district, pulling into a dark, abandoned warehouse he had secretly purchased years ago.

It was an off-grid server farm completely disconnected from the main internet.

He led the girls inside the freezing building, booting up the massive servers with a loud hum.

Gideon plugged the stolen hard drive into his main terminal, determined to see what was worth killing for.

A complex encryption screen popped up, requiring a massive sixty-four character alphanumeric password.

Gideon sighed in frustration, knowing it would take his supercomputers years to crack a code this strong.

Nova slowly walked up to the glowing screen and stared at the blinking cursor.

She reached out with her small fingers and began typing a flurry of random letters and numbers.

Gideon gasped as the screen flashed green and the file directories completely unlocked.

"How did you know the password?" Gideon asked in absolute shock.

Nova looked up at him with her large, innocent eyes.

"Because my daddy made me memorize it before he died," she whispered.
