Chapter 3 - The Billionaire's Confession

I stood completely paralyzed in the kitchen with Noah crying in my arms.
My mother aggressively swung the heavy iron poker, forcing Alexander to back away.
She screamed at me again to run, but my legs simply refused to move.
Alexander did not even attempt to defend himself against her weapon.
He raised his empty hands in the air to show he was not carrying a gun.
He begged my mother to listen to him for just one single minute.
He swore on his own life that he had nothing to do with the explosion on the yacht.
He claimed that her own ruthless father, the patriarch of the Sterling empire, had orchestrated the bombing.
Alexander told her that her father wanted to eliminate her to prevent her from giving birth to an illegitimate heir.
My mother lowered the iron poker just a fraction of an inch, her eyes wide with shock.
She asked Alexander how he could possibly know about the baby she was carrying back then.
Alexander looked directly at me with a raw, undeniable vulnerability in his blue eyes.
He softly confessed that he knew about the baby because he was the father.
I felt the air completely leave my lungs.
This incredibly wealthy, terrifying stranger was claiming to be my biological father.
My mother shook her head wildly, refusing to accept his story.
She yelled that Alexander was a manipulative liar who worked for her evil family.
She grabbed my wrist and tried to pull me toward the back door of the kitchen.
Suddenly, the roaring sound of heavy engines echoed loudly from the street outside.
Bright headlights violently pierced through our thin, dusty window blinds.
Three massive black armored SUVs aggressively parked on our dying front lawn.
Alexander immediately drew a dark, heavy pistol from a hidden shoulder holster.

He looked at my mother and told her that her father's hitmen had successfully tracked his phone.
He said the Sterling family was finally here to finish the job they started twelve years ago.
