Chapter 8 - The Master Override

The blinding blue sparks from the welding torch showered down the dark elevator shaft like deadly rain.

Someone was actively sealing the server room on the sixtieth floor to ensure the financial virus succeeded.

I refused to let my family's legacy be destroyed by a treacherous coward and his hired accomplices.

I carefully climbed the greasy steel cables, my expensive silk gown tearing against the sharp metal edges.

I reached the narrow concrete ledge of the sixtieth floor and aggressively kicked the elevator shaft door open.

I scrambled into the dimly lit hallway, my hands covered in dark grease and my heart pounding violently.

The heavy reinforced glass door of the main server room was glowing fiercely from the intense heat of the torch.

I frantically searched the empty hallway for anything heavy enough to break through the impenetrable glass.

I spotted a bright red emergency fire axe secured tightly behind a protective plastic panel on the wall.

I smashed the plastic with my bare elbow, completely ignoring the sharp pain, and grabbed the heavy wooden handle.

I ran toward the server room door and swung the heavy axe with every ounce of furious strength I possessed.

The reinforced glass cracked loudly on the first strike, sending a massive web of fractures across the surface.

I swung again and again until the heavy glass finally shattered completely inward with a deafening crash.

I stepped through the broken door and instantly recognized the man holding the hot welding torch.

It was Everett's loyal Chief Financial Officer, sweating profusely and trembling in absolute panic.

He dropped the dangerous torch and desperately lunged toward the main terminal to lock the keyboard.

I swung the heavy wooden handle of the axe, striking him aggressively across his knees before he could reach the desk.

The corrupt executive collapsed to the floor with a loud cry of intense agony, completely incapacitated.

I threw the axe aside and rushed to the glowing main terminal, my eyes scanning the terrifying progress bar.

The Poison Pill virus had already reached ninety-eight percent completion, threatening absolute financial ruin.

I rapidly typed my grandfather's secret master override code into the complex command prompt.

I slammed the enter key exactly one second before the fatal virus reached one hundred percent.

The massive server room instantly flashed a bright, reassuring green as the deletion protocol was permanently terminated.

I let out a massive, shuddering breath as I watched the company's vital financial data safely restore itself.

Grant finally burst through the broken glass door, breathing heavily and holding his tactical weapon ready.

"You did it, Madam Chairman," Grant praised, looking at the green screens in absolute, profound relief.

I nodded slowly, but my eyes were suddenly drawn to a hidden security feed playing on a side monitor.

The silent video showed the corrupt CFO receiving the override codes in a dark alleyway just hours earlier.

The man handing him the codes turned his face slightly toward the hidden camera lens.

It was absolutely impossible, but I was staring directly at the face of my supposedly deceased father.
