Chapter 5 - The True Colors

The mechanized voice on the burner phone sent a violent shiver down Everett's spine.

"Who are you, and where is my money?" Everett demanded, his voice cracking with pure panic.

"Your money belongs to the cartel now to settle the massive debts you accumulated," the voice replied coldly.

The mysterious caller explained that they had easily hacked his safe earlier that morning.

"You have exactly one hour to deliver the Blackstone core algorithms, or you are a dead man," the voice warned.

The line went completely dead, leaving Everett standing in the freezing, dark garage with a useless plastic phone.

He suddenly realized that his reckless, secret gambling debts had finally caught up to him.

He dropped the burner phone onto the concrete floor and turned desperately toward his mistress.

"Madison, you have to call your powerful family and get us a private jet right now!" Everett begged frantically.

He dropped to his knees, clutching the fabric of her expensive, ruined silver gown.

Madison stared down at the pathetic, weeping man kneeling in the dirty puddle of the garage.

The sweet, innocent expression she always wore completely vanished from her beautiful face.

She let out a harsh, cruel laugh that echoed loudly off the concrete walls.

"You really are an incredibly stupid man, Everett," Madison scoffed, violently kicking his hands away.

She took a confident step backward and casually smoothed the wrinkles from her dress.

"My family is not incredibly wealthy, and I am certainly not a helpless little socialite," she revealed.

Madison confessed that she had been hired by a rival corporate syndicate specifically to seduce him.

Her only mission was to gather enough blackmail material to completely destroy Blackstone Crest Holdings.

"I only needed your signature on that transfer document to steal the company's proprietary technology," Madison sneered.

Everett gasped, realizing he had thrown away a decade of marriage for a professional corporate spy.

"You used me!" Everett screamed, his face turning a deep, furious shade of red.

He lunged forward aggressively, intending to wrap his hands around her treacherous throat.

Madison did not flinch or scream for help as the angry man charged toward her.

She simply reached into her designer clutch and smoothly pulled out a suppressed silver pistol.

She aimed the deadly weapon directly at the center of Everett's chest without a single hint of hesitation.

"Take one more step, and I will gladly leave you bleeding out on this filthy floor," Madison threatened coldly.

Everett froze instantly, raising his hands in absolute, paralyzing terror as he stared down the barrel.

Suddenly, the heavy metal doors of the parking garage violently burst open.

A blinding spotlight clicked on, illuminating the dark garage and pinning Madison in a massive circle of light.

"Drop the weapon right now, Madison, or my men will fire," I commanded through a powerful megaphone.
