Chapter 6 - The Escape Plan

The terrifying reality of Margot's threat completely paralyzed me in the hospital bed.

A private psychiatric facility meant absolute isolation, forced medication, and zero access to the outside world.

She was going to lock me away and completely erase my existence to steal my college fund.

Vance checked his gold wristwatch and nodded sharply at Margot, indicating it was time to execute their plan.

"The private transport team is waiting in the basement loading dock," Vance announced smoothly.

"We need to move her quietly before the shift change brings more nosy nurses into the ward."

Margot stepped out into the hallway to coordinate with the transport team, leaving me completely alone with the corrupt lawyer.

I knew I only had a few minutes to act before they aggressively forced me into a wheelchair and disappeared forever.

I desperately pressed the nurse call button hidden beneath my blanket, hoping the sharp-eyed nurse from the night before was still on duty.

The intercom crackled to life, but instead of a nurse's voice, I heard the heavy, static-filled breathing of someone completely unfamiliar.

"Cancel the call, Mr. Vance," the strange voice ordered through the speaker. "The corridor is completely clear."

Vance reached over and forcefully ripped the call button cord entirely out of the wall socket.

"Nice try," Vance mocked, buttoning his tailored suit jacket with arrogant confidence.

I was completely trapped, paralyzed from the waist down, and isolated in a room controlled by my enemies.

But as Vance turned his back to check the hallway, I noticed something incredible on the rolling tray table.

When Dad had been frantically reading the custody order, he had accidentally left his cell phone sitting under the stack of legal papers.

It was the same phone he had used to call 911 the night before.

I reached out with a trembling hand, desperately stretching my fingers toward the edge of the tray.

My fingertips barely brushed the smooth glass screen, slowly dragging the device closer until I could securely grip it.

I pulled the phone under the heavy hospital blanket just as Margot marched aggressively back into the room.

"The orderlies are on their way up," Margot declared, her voice filled with absolute, ruthless authority.

I quickly unlocked the phone under the covers, my heart hammering violently against my fragile ribs.

I didn't have time to call the police or Detective Reynolds; I needed someone who could stop a legal transfer immediately.

I opened the contacts list and scrolled frantically, searching for the one person Margot feared more than anyone else.

I tapped the name and prayed the call would connect before the orderlies burst through the heavy wooden door.

The line rang twice before a deep, gravelly voice answered.

"What is it, Richard?" the voice demanded, clearly annoyed by the interruption.

"Grandpa, it's me," I whispered desperately into the phone, keeping the device completely hidden under the blanket.

"Margot hurt my spine, and she has a fake custody order to lock me in a psychiatric hospital right now."

There was a long, terrifying silence on the other end of the line.

My grandfather, Arthur Davis Sr., was a retired federal judge with immense wealth and a terrifying reputation for utter ruthlessness.

He had completely cut my father off ten years ago when Dad married Margot, warning him she was a dangerous parasite.

"Where are you?" my grandfather asked, his voice instantly dropping to a lethal, chilling rumble.

"Mercy General, room 412," I answered quickly.

Before he could say another word, two massive orderlies wearing dark blue scrubs aggressively pushed a heavy transport gurney into my room.

Margot pointed a manicured finger directly at my bed.

"Strap her down tightly," Margot commanded the massive men. "She is highly prone to violent outbursts."

I dropped the phone under the blanket as the men grabbed my arms, aggressively hauling my paralyzed body onto the cold gurney.
