Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Verdict

We dragged Marcus back into court, but this time, the dynamics were completely reversed.
I sat at the plaintiff's table, wearing a tailored Chanel suit, flanked by a phalanx of the most ruthless family law attorneys money could buy. Marcus sat on the other side, representing himself, looking like a cornered rat.
Judge Harrison presided once again. But this time, he looked at Marcus with utter contempt.
My lawyers presented a mountain of evidence: Marcus’s financial fraud, his infidelity during my pregnancy, his attempt to leave me destitute, and finally, a secret recording of him on the beach, offering to sell his unborn son to me for five million dollars.
Marcus tried to argue, claiming he was under emotional duress, but his words fell flat.
“Mr. Sterling,” the judge interrupted, slamming his gavel. “In my twenty years on the bench, I have rarely seen a man so devoid of moral character. You tried to weaponize the legal system against a vulnerable pregnant woman. You will not do it again.”

The judge ruled instantly. Full, sole, irrevocable custody was awarded to me. Marcus was stripped of all parental rights, forbidden from ever contacting us again, and slapped with a permanent restraining order.
As I walked out of the courtroom, Marcus was arrested at the defendant's table by two waiting FBI agents for the embezzlement charges my mother’s lawyers had tipped them off to.
