I stared at the blinking red light hidden among the vibrant pink lilies.
I realized that Vanessa and her dangerous employers were monitoring my father's every move.
I quickly formulated a desperate plan to use the hidden microphone to my advantage.
I spoke loudly into the empty room, pretending to cry and saying I would sign the papers.
I stated clearly that I would meet my father in the hospital's underground parking garage at midnight to deliver the signed documents.
I hoped the syndicate would hear the time and location, forcing a confrontation away from the maternity ward.
Thirty minutes later, the door creaked open, and Ethan slipped into the room disguised in medical scrubs.
He looked completely terrified, constantly checking the hallway over his shoulder.
Ethan confessed that he finally realized our father was willing to sacrifice all of us to save himself.
He handed me a prepaid burner phone and a printed stack of my father's private emails.
The emails revealed that my father had no intention of saving Daniel from prison.
He had booked a private charter flight to a non-extradition country, scheduled to leave tonight at 1:00 AM.
He was going to take the bearer bonds from the BMW and leave the entire family to face the syndicate's wrath.
Ethan promised that he would help me break Daniel out of the legal nightmare, no matter the cost.
I told Ethan about my fake meeting at midnight, warning him to stay far away from the parking garage.
He nodded bravely and turned to leave the room, pulling his surgical mask up over his face.
I watched him step into the hallway, praying that he would make it out of the hospital safely.
Just as the door began to close, a massive shadow loomed over the frosted glass panel.
I heard a sickening thud, followed by the sound of a body being dragged aggressively across the linoleum floor.
