Chapter 4 - The Eviction Notice

I grabbed the yellow paper before it could fall to the porch floor.
I stared at the official county stamp, realizing she had already bribed a local judge to expedite the process.
Carol demanded that I log back into my computer and reinstate her guarantor agreement immediately.
She promised to tear up the eviction notice the second her project funding was restored.
I looked her dead in the eye and told her to get off my property.
Carol laughed, a sharp and cruel sound that cut through the heavy rain.
She proudly stated that the property technically belonged to her LLC, making me a hostile squatter.
She signaled to the two massive security guards standing behind her.
They took a threatening step forward, placing their heavy boots inside my doorway.
I braced myself for a physical fight, knowing I would do whatever it took to protect my family.
Suddenly, Marianne appeared at the top of the stairs holding a solid aluminum baseball bat.
She walked down the steps with a terrifying, calm intensity in her eyes.
She told the guards they had exactly three seconds to leave before she called the police and pressed charges for home invasion.
The guards hesitated, looking at Carol for confirmation.
They realized a violent altercation with a mother holding a weapon was not worth whatever Carol was paying them.
The men stepped back out into the freezing rain.
Carol glared at Marianne, her face twisting into a mask of pure hatred.
She pulled her cell phone from her designer purse and dialed a number.

She looked right at me and told the person on the line to initiate the asset freeze.
She was locking me out of my own personal bank accounts.
