Chapter 9 - The Devil's Warehouse

Matilda sobbed uncontrollably, digging her fingernails into her own palms.

Lily was only nine years old.

She was the entire reason Matilda tolerated the abuse at the mansion just to pay for her care.

Gabriel knelt beside her and pulled her into a fierce, protective embrace.

“I will burn this entire city to ashes before I let anyone hurt her,” Gabriel promised darkly.

They grabbed the duffel bag of weapons and climbed into Vincenzo’s armored SUV.

Gabriel checked the GPS logs in Vincenzo’s phone and found the exact location of Lorenzo’s new stronghold.

It was an abandoned meatpacking warehouse on the edge of the city limits.

They arrived thirty minutes later, parking a block away in the heavy rain.

The warehouse was surrounded by dozens of armed guards patrolling the perimeter.

“We can’t just walk in there,” Matilda panicked, holding a shotgun with trembling hands.

Gabriel smiled a cold, calculating smile.

“We aren't going to walk in,” he replied.

Gabriel pulled blocks of C4 explosives from the duffel bag and strapped them to the steering wheel of the SUV.

He placed a brick on the gas pedal and jumped out of the moving vehicle.

The massive, armored truck sped directly toward the steel loading doors of the warehouse.

The guards screamed and ran in pure terror.

The SUV smashed through the doors and exploded in a massive, blinding fireball.

The entire front of the building collapsed in a shower of brick and twisted metal.

Gabriel grabbed Matilda’s hand, and they charged through the smoke and fire.

Gabriel was a force of nature, shooting down every corrupt soldier who stood in his way.

They fought their way to the main office on the second floor.

Gabriel kicked the door off its hinges, his gun raised.

Lorenzo was not in the room.

But Lily was tied to a chair in the corner, crying hysterically.

Matilda dropped her weapon and ran to untie her little sister.

“Lily, I’ve got you!” Matilda cried, hugging the trembling child tightly.

Lily hugged her sister back, but her wide, terrified eyes were locked entirely on Gabriel.
