Chapter 1 - The Grand Reveal

Alex lifted his champagne glass and looked the waitress up and down.

“If you can really dance, I might leave her and marry you tonight.”

The woman beside him touched his chest.

“You’re awful, Alex.”

“She’s staff.”

“Don’t make a scene.”

A few guests laughed.

Alex smiled wider.

“Fifty grand if you prove me wrong.”

The waitress held the tray perfectly still.

Then she looked at him.

“I accept.”

The laughter grew louder.

She disappeared through the service doors.

Minutes later, the ballroom lights dimmed.

The enormous double doors opened.

A spotlight hit the entrance.

And the waitress stepped through wearing a glittering gown.

The entire room fell silent.

Alex’s smile vanished.

She walked toward the center of the ballroom and turned gracefully beneath the light.

Then the announcer’s voice filled the room.

“Ladies and gentlemen, our special guest has arrived.”

Alex frowned.

“Special guest?”

The announcer continued.

“Please welcome the woman who owns this hotel.”

Alex slowly looked at the waitress.

She smiled.

“And Alex…”

Her eyes hardened.

“You’re standing in my ballroom.”

Gasps rippled through the crowd as high society’s elite watched the arrogant billionaire get publicly humiliated.

Alex stood frozen for a fraction of a second before his legendary composure returned.

He stepped forward, closing the distance between them until he was mere inches away.

The scent of his expensive cologne mixed with the tension in the air.

“A beautiful performance, Elena,” he murmured, his voice dropping to a dangerous baritone.

He knew her name all along.

Elena maintained her icy glare, though a sudden flicker of doubt crossed her mind.

“My acquisition firm bought all of the outstanding debt your late father hid from you,” Alex stated calmly.

He pulled a crisp, folded legal document from his tailored tuxedo jacket.

He pressed it against her chest.

“Your beloved family legacy is drowning in red ink.”

Elena’s heart pounded, but she kept her chin high.

“You are bluffing,” she countered.

Alex let out a low, dark chuckle.

“I never bluff when it comes to business.”

He leaned in so close that his lips almost brushed her ear.

“You have exactly one hour to sign this property over to me.”

Elena clenched her fists.

“And if I refuse?” she asked.

Alex stepped back and adjusted his tie with a predatory grin.

“Then I will initiate a hostile foreclosure, freeze every single bank account associated with your family name, and bulldoze this ballroom by morning.”
