Chapter 1 - The Envelope of Truth

Jason had driven to the attorney's office feeling like an absolute king.

He had laughed in his car, imagining Sarah crying in some cheap motel across the Canadian border.

He had fully planned to demand alimony and aggressively take half of her meager retirement savings.

The initial shock of walking into an entirely empty house was still fresh in his mind.

However, he assumed it was just a pathetic temper tantrum from a weak woman.

He never imagined she possessed the sheer intelligence to orchestrate a complete financial massacre.

The first page inside the envelope made the color drain completely from Jason's face.

It was a legally binding document proving that the house he thought he owned had been quietly transferred to a corporate shell company.

Sarah had secretly bought out his massive underground gambling debts three months ago.

She had used his own careless signatures to place everything he loved under her direct legal control.

Jason dropped the thick paper onto the mahogany conference table with violently trembling hands.

Mr. Grant simply adjusted his expensive glasses and watched the arrogant man completely fall apart.

"You have absolutely nothing left to your name," the attorney stated in a cold and professional tone.

Jason stood up so quickly that his leather chair crashed backward onto the hardwood floor.

He screamed that this was entirely illegal and that he would sue Sarah for every single penny she had ever earned.

Mr. Grant calmly pressed a small silver button on his desk intercom without breaking eye contact.

The heavy oak doors of the conference room swung open immediately.

Two uniformed police officers stepped inside with their hands resting cautiously on their weapons.

They were definitely not there to discuss a messy divorce settlement.

The taller officer informed Jason that he was under arrest for massive corporate embezzlement and wire fraud.

Sarah had meticulously documented his illegal offshore transfers for over two years while he thought she was clueless.

As the cold steel handcuffs clicked tightly around his wrists, Jason realized he had vastly underestimated the woman he had abused.

The officers dragged him aggressively toward the elevator as he shouted empty threats into the quiet office.

Before the elevator doors closed completely, Mr. Grant held up a small black burner phone.

"Sarah wanted me to give you one final message before you go," the attorney said smoothly.

He pressed play on a voice recording that echoed chillingly through the sterile hallway.

It was the distinct and terrifying voice of Jason's wealthy and ruthless boss.

The boss calmly stated on the recording that he had just hired a professional hitman to eliminate Jason for stealing company funds.
