Chapter 7 - The Grand Entrance

A squad of heavily armed local police officers stormed into the grand ballroom.

Marcus instantly smiled, his confidence returning as he saw the flashing red and blue lights outside.

He had personally paid the police captain a massive bribe to assist in this exact situation.

Marcus grabbed his microphone and pointed directly up at Ethan on the catwalk.

He loudly declared that the man in the rafters was a dangerous, deranged stalker who had just fired a weapon.

The police officers instantly raised their rifles, aiming their laser sights directly at Ethan's chest.

The captain ordered Ethan to walk down the spiral staircase with his hands in the air or they would shoot.

Ethan remained completely calm, his face an unreadable mask of cold determination.

He raised his hands slowly and began his descent down the long, winding iron staircase.

The wealthy board members whispered among themselves, horrified by the ragged, bruised man walking toward them.

They saw a man in a torn leather jacket, completely unaware that he was the billionaire they worked for.

As Ethan reached the marble floor, three officers violently slammed him against a banquet table.

They placed heavy steel handcuffs on his wrists, securing them tightly behind his back.

Marcus walked off the stage and approached Ethan with a sickening, triumphant grin.

He leaned in close so only Ethan could hear his vicious words.

Marcus whispered that Lily was being taken away to a state facility right now, and Ethan would rot in a cell forever.

Ethan didn't flinch, didn't scream, and didn't beg for mercy.

He simply stared into Marcus's eyes and told him he had made a catastrophic miscalculation.

Marcus laughed out loud, mocking Ethan's ridiculous bravado.

He turned to the police captain and formally demanded that the prisoner be taken away immediately.

The captain nodded and grabbed Ethan's arm to drag him out the front doors.

Before they could take a single step, the sound of a microphone feeding back pierced the room.

Everyone turned to see Lupita standing on the main stage, shaking but holding the microphone firmly.

She bravely announced to the entire room that Marcus Thorne was a liar and a monster.

Marcus's face turned purple with rage, and he ordered the police to arrest the crazy housekeeper.

Before the officers could move, the massive LED screens behind the stage suddenly flickered to life.
