Chapter 4 - The Housekeeper's Courage
Back on the ninth floor, Lupita the housekeeper was pushing her cleaning cart down the silent hallway.
She had heard the commotion earlier and felt a deep, nagging sense of dread in her stomach.
She knew Marcus and his security team were brutally corrupt and often harassed unwanted guests.
Lupita noticed the door to Suite 904 was slightly ajar, which was a massive security violation.
She bravely pushed the door open and stepped into the trashed living room.
The broken glass and crushed red roses on the floor broke her heart.
She heard a soft, muffled crying coming from the master bedroom.
Lupita rushed over and found the door locked from the outside.
She quickly used her master housekeeping key to unlock the heavy door.
Lily was huddled in the corner of the massive bed, clutching her stuffed rabbit and trembling in fear.
Lupita immediately dropped to her knees and spoke to the little girl in a soothing, gentle voice.
She promised Lily that she was a friend and that everything was going to be okay.
Lily sniffled and asked where her father had gone.
Before Lupita could answer, heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway toward the suite.
Lupita knew that if security caught her in this room, she would be fired and possibly arrested.
She quickly grabbed Lily's hand and led her toward the secondary staff exit connected to the suite's kitchen.
Just as they slipped into the narrow service corridor, two men entered the main room.
Lupita held her breath, keeping a protective arm around the terrified child in the darkness.
She could hear the men talking about a woman from Child Protective Services waiting downstairs in the lobby.
The men were instructed to bring the child down to the loading dock immediately.
Lupita realized this was a coordinated kidnapping masquerading as a legal intervention.
She knew she had to get this little girl far away from the hotel before it was too late.
Lupita carefully guided Lily down the steep, concrete service stairs, avoiding the camera blind spots.
As they reached the fourth floor, the stairwell door suddenly burst open.
A security guard stepped into their path, shining a bright tactical flashlight directly into Lupita's eyes.

Suddenly, a heavy fire extinguisher smashed into the back of the guard's helmet.
