Chapter 2 - The Unlawful Eviction

Ethan immediately stepped between the intruders and the bedroom where Lily was sleeping.

His voice was dangerously calm as he demanded to know what they were doing in his suite.

The lead security guard, a towering man named Briggs, flashed a cruel, mocking smile.

Briggs boldly claimed that there had been a system error and Ethan was trespassing in a restricted area.

Ethan calmly explained that his reservation was confirmed in the executive system.

He reached for the bedside phone to call the front desk and clear up the misunderstanding.

Briggs stepped forward quickly and ripped the phone cord straight out of the wall.

The guards clearly had no intention of resolving this peacefully.

They had been given strict orders by Marcus to intimidate this man and throw him out into the cold streets.

Ethan's eyes hardened as he realized this was a coordinated attack by the hotel's management.

He told Briggs that if they woke his daughter, there would be severe consequences for everyone involved.

Briggs just laughed and reached out to grab Ethan by his worn leather jacket.

What Briggs did not expect was the blinding speed with which Ethan reacted.

Ethan grabbed the guard's wrist, twisted it sharply, and forced the massive man down to one knee.

The other two guards immediately pulled out their heavy steel batons.

Ethan released Briggs and stepped back, not wanting to start a violent brawl near his child.

He raised his hands slowly, offering to step out into the hallway to discuss the matter.

As they moved toward the door, Briggs angrily shoved Ethan from behind.

The sudden force sent Ethan crashing into the small glass table near the entryway.

The vase holding Sarah's anniversary roses shattered violently against the hardwood floor.

Red petals scattered across the ground, soaking in a pool of spilled water and broken glass.

Ethan stared down at the ruined flowers he had bought for his late wife.

A dangerous, icy silence filled the room as Ethan slowly stood back up.

Briggs smirked, completely unaware of the lethal mistake he had just made.

He told Ethan to grab his brat and get out before things got worse.

Before Ethan could respond, a terrified scream echoed from the open bedroom doorway.

Lily had woken up to the sound of breaking glass and was pointing at the balcony window.

A dark figure dressed in tactical gear was standing on the outside balcony, cutting the glass.
