Chapter 6 - THE RACE AGAINST TIME
Beatrice drove them to a secluded motel on the edge of the city.
"Eleanor’s husband ruined this family," Beatrice explained, pouring Clara a cup of tea. "When he died, Eleanor took over the board. Liam found out she was laundering millions through shell companies. He was going to the FBI tomorrow. She tried to kill him to silence him, and she used his phone to break your heart so you wouldn't ask questions."
Clara felt sick. The woman wasn't just trying to separate them; she was a murderer.
Clara looked at the clock. It was 10:00 PM. Liam’s medical transport flight was scheduled for midnight.
"If she gets him out of US jurisdiction, she'll take him off life support," Beatrice warned. "She will claim his injuries were too severe."

Clara looked down at the Medical Power of Attorney in her hand, then at her beautiful baby girl. She wasn't just a teacher anymore. She was a mother protecting her family.
"She's not taking my husband," Clara said, her voice turning into steel. She pulled out her phone and dialed the one person she knew could help: Liam’s best friend, Detective Marcus Reyes.
