Chapter 3 - THE INJUNCTION

Clara woke up in the maternity ward 24 hours later, her body bruised and exhausted. The baby, whom she had named Hope, was sleeping soundly in a plastic hospital crib beside her.
A sympathetic nurse named Sarah walked in, her face grim. "He stabilized, Clara. Liam is alive. He's in a medically induced coma."
Clara exhaled a breath she didn't know she was holding. "I need to see him."
"You can't," Sarah whispered, handing Clara a thick manila envelope. "His mother brought in her corporate lawyers this morning. She filed an emergency injunction. Because you aren't legally married, she has full medical proxy. You are barred from the ICU."

Clara opened the envelope. It was a restraining order. If she went within 100 feet of Liam’s room, she would be arrested. Eleanor was using her billions to erase Clara and Hope from Liam’s life entirely.
"She's moving him to a private airfield at midnight," Sarah whispered, looking over her shoulder. "Clara, if she puts him on that plane to Europe, you will never see him again."
