Chapter 10 - THE PROMISE (ENDING)

One Year Later.
The beach in Malibu was bathed in the warm, golden light of the setting sun. The waves crashed gently against the shore.
Clara stood barefoot in the sand, wearing a simple, flowing white dress. Her heart fluttered just as it had on their very first date.
Down the aisle of white rose petals, Liam was standing. He didn't have a wheelchair anymore. He stood tall, leaning slightly on a silver cane, a permanent physical reminder of the fire they had walked through. But his smile was brighter than the sun.
In his arms was one-year-old Hope, wearing a tiny flower crown, babbling happily at the ocean.
Sitting in the front row was Beatrice, the mysterious grandmother, dabbing her eyes with a lace handkerchief.
As Clara reached the altar, Liam handed the baby to his grandmother and took Clara’s hands.
"They tried to break us," Liam whispered, looking deep into her eyes as the ocean breeze pulled at her hair. "They tried to take my life, and they tried to take you. But they didn't know that my heart beats in your chest."

Clara smiled, tears of pure joy spilling over her cheeks. "I didn't give up on you," she whispered back. "I never will."
As the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, Liam dropped his cane, wrapped his arms around Clara, and kissed her. It was a kiss of absolute victory, sealing a love story that had conquered death, outsmarted a corrupt empire, and proven that the strongest force in the world is a family that refuses to be broken.
