Chapter 1 - The Hidden Discovery

The crystal chandeliers of the luxury hotel cast a warm, golden glow over the busy hallway.
Evelyn walked quietly toward the bridal suite carrying a vintage velvet box containing her grandmother's priceless diamond necklace.
She wanted to give the beautiful heirloom to her future daughter-in-law, Maya, before the wedding ceremony officially began.
Evelyn gently pushed the heavy mahogany door open, expecting to find a room full of laughing bridesmaids and makeup artists.
Instead, the extravagant bridal suite was completely empty and eerily silent.
A half-empty glass of champagne rested on the vanity, and a curling iron was still plugged into the wall.
Evelyn frowned and stepped further into the room, calling out Maya's name softly.
She accidentally knocked her expensive leather purse off the edge of the velvet sofa.
The purse tumbled to the floor, spilling her lipstick and compact mirror completely underneath the furniture.
Evelyn knelt down on the plush carpet and reached her arm far under the sofa to retrieve her belongings.
Her fingers brushed against something incredibly cold, heavy, and made of solid steel.
She pulled the object out and realized it was a tactical security lockbox that had been left slightly unlatched.
Curiosity overwhelmed her manners, and she carefully lifted the heavy metal lid.
Inside the box, Evelyn found five different passports, all featuring Maya's beautiful face but with completely different names and nationalities.
Beneath the forged passports lay a detailed, highly classified blueprint of the hotel ballroom with red X marks over the main exits.
Nestled in the very bottom of the box were three small glass vials filled with a suspicious, clear liquid.
Evelyn felt all the blood drain from her face as sheer, absolute terror gripped her chest.
The sweet, innocent woman her son was about to marry was clearly a highly dangerous imposter.
Evelyn slammed the box shut, shoved it back under the sofa, and sprinted out of the room.
She ran down the long hallway, her high heels clicking frantically against the polished marble floor.
She burst into the groom's dressing room without knocking, startling the best man.
Evelyn demanded that everyone leave the room immediately so she could speak to her son alone.
Liam stood in front of the mirror, adjusting his expensive black tuxedo with a calm expression.
Evelyn rushed forward and grabbed his arm, tears of pure panic streaming down her pale face.
She frantically explained everything she had just found hidden inside the bridal suite.
She begged him to call the police and cancel the wedding before everyone was murdered.
Liam did not gasp, flinch, or show even a single ounce of surprise.
He calmly reached into his tuxedo jacket and pulled back the expensive fabric.

Evelyn gasped as she saw a loaded tactical handgun safely secured in a hidden shoulder holster.
"I already know exactly who she is, Mom," Liam whispered with a terrifyingly cold smile.
