Chapter 9 - The Edge of Ruin

Marcus immediately squeezed the trigger, firing two precise, silent shots that perfectly dropped the mercenaries holding the children.

Alexander sprinted across the slippery helipad, scooping up Lily and Mia before the falling guards even hit the concrete.

Sarah lunged desperately for the dropped silver pistol, but Eleanor violently tackled her from behind with sheer, psychotic rage.

The two women wrestled aggressively on the wet surface, rolling dangerously close to the terrifying, endless drop to the city streets below.

Eleanor screamed like a wild animal, her ruined white wedding dress completely soaked in dark mud and fresh blood.

She managed to wrap her hands tightly around Sarah's throat, choking the life out of the exhausted, severely weakened mother.

Alexander handed the children to Marcus and sprinted toward the fighting women, his absolute fury giving him terrifying speed.

He aggressively grabbed the heavy tulle fabric of Eleanor's wedding dress, violently ripping her away from his gasping wife.

Eleanor scrambled wildly on the slick concrete, trying desperately to regain her footing and launch another deadly attack.

Instead, her expensive high heels slipped violently on a puddle of oil leaking from the idling helicopter's massive engine.

She completely lost her balance, her arms windmilling in the air as she tumbled backward over the short concrete retaining wall.

Eleanor shrieked in absolute terror as she slipped over the edge, desperately grabbing a loose metal lightning rod with one hand.

She was now dangling eighty stories above the glittering city, her grip rapidly failing against the heavy, freezing rain.

Alexander rushed to the edge, looking down at the vicious monster who had stolen three years of his family's life.

Eleanor looked up at him with wide, terrified eyes, aggressively crying and begging the billionaire to save her life.

She promised to return all of his stolen money and publicly confess her endless crimes if he would just pull her up.

Alexander stared down at her with cold, empty eyes, fully realizing that letting her fall would permanently solve all of his problems.

He slowly reached his hand out over the terrifying drop, his fingers brushing against the freezing, desperate skin of her wrist.

Just as Eleanor smiled with immense relief, a loud, unexpected gunshot rang out from the stairwell behind him.
