Alexander carefully took the crumpled, stained paper from the little girl's dirty hands.
His entire body shook violently as he immediately recognized the elegant handwriting on the envelope.
It belonged to Sarah, the only woman he had ever truly loved, who had supposedly died in a tragic boating accident three years ago.
He tore open the envelope, his eyes rapidly scanning the frantic, terrified words written inside.

The letter ended with a desperate plea to save their children because her captors had finally decided to execute her tonight.
Alexander crushed the paper in his fist, a massive wave of pure rage and devastating grief crashing over him.
He looked up at Eleanor, whose beautiful face was now twisted into a vicious, ugly sneer.
Eleanor screamed at the armed security guards to remove the trespassing brats immediately and throw them out into the street.
Alexander stepped protectively in front of his two small daughters, raising his hand to halt the approaching men.
He loudly declared that the wedding was officially canceled and ordered his personal security detail to escort the children to his car.
However, the six heavily armed men in black suits did not stop moving toward the altar.
They completely ignored Alexander's strict commands and pulled out their heavy steel batons.
The captain of the guard looked Alexander dead in the eye with a cold, hollow expression.
He stated that his massive paycheck no longer came from the groom, but from the bride's powerful father.
