Chapter 6 - The Lion's Den

Alexander stared at the glowing red dot on the computer screen, a cold, calculated fury completely replacing his earlier panic.

The woman he loved was being brutally tortured in the very building he had built with his own two hands.

Marcus warned him that the skyscraper was currently heavily fortified by dozens of elite mercenaries working for the Vance family.

Walking through those massive glass doors would be absolute suicide without an army or any proper military weapons.

Alexander looked at his two exhausted, sleeping daughters huddled warmly on the cot in the corner of the bunker.

He swore a silent, unbreakable oath that he would bring their mother back tonight, or he would die trying.

Marcus opened a hidden weapons locker in the floor of the safe house, tossing Alexander a heavy, loaded tactical vest and a suppressed pistol.

They locked the heavy bunker door securely behind them, leaving the children completely hidden in the impenetrable, underground fortress.

The two men drove a stolen, unmarked sedan through the dark, rain-slicked streets toward the towering glass monolith of his company.

They bypassed the heavily guarded main entrance, expertly navigating through the forgotten, underground maintenance tunnels Alexander had designed himself.

Using Marcus's hacked security keycard, they silently slipped past the laser grids and infiltrated the pitch-black sub-basement.

The cold, damp concrete hallways smelled strongly of bleach and rust, making Alexander's stomach twist with terrifying dread.

They finally reached the heavy steel door of the old boiler room, which was heavily padlocked from the outside.

Marcus quickly used heavy bolt cutters to silently snap the thick metal chain, slowly pulling the heavy door open.

Alexander rushed into the dark room, desperately calling out Sarah's name as he swept the area with his bright flashlight.

The cramped room was completely empty, containing only a dirty mattress, broken chains, and fresh drops of blood on the floor.

Resting directly in the center of the stained mattress was a sleek, black smartphone displaying a live video feed.

Alexander picked up the phone just as Eleanor's cruel, beautiful face appeared on the bright digital screen.

She smiled wickedly from the windy rooftop of the skyscraper, casually holding a silver gun to the head of a severely bruised, terrified Sarah.
