Chapter 6 - The Mother's Choice
The entire world completely stopped as Clara stared at the terrifying weapon pressed against her precious son's temple.
Noah was sobbing hysterically, crying out for his real mother to save him from the nightmare.
Julian aggressively stepped forward, completely willing to take a bullet to protect his family.
"Let the boy go right now, Vivi, this fight is exclusively between us," Julian demanded fiercely.
Vivi laughed a cold, deeply soulless laugh that echoed menacingly through the dark mountain trees.
"This fight ends tonight exactly the way I say it does," the wicked woman sneered highly arrogantly.
She pulled a folded, highly official legal document from her coat pocket and tossed it onto the wet dirt.
"Sign this full confession stating you are a deranged stalker who violently attacked my family," Vivi ordered Clara.
If Clara signed the heavily fabricated document, she would spend the absolute rest of her life in a federal psychiatric prison.
"If you refuse to sign it, I will simply tell the police that the crazy stalker tragically killed the child during a hostage situation," Vivi threatened.
Clara completely ignored the heavy rain soaking her clothes and slowly dropped to her knees in the mud.
She picked up the soggy paper and a silver pen, completely willing to sacrifice her entire freedom for Noah's absolute safety.
"Do not do it, Clara, she will kill us all anyway!" Julian shouted desperately.
Clara looked up at Noah, offering him a brave, incredibly loving smile through her falling tears.
"I will always love you, my sweet boy," Clara whispered softly as she touched the pen to the paper.
As she began to sign her name, Noah suddenly sank his small teeth violently into Vivi's wrist.
Vivi screamed in sheer, unexpected agony and momentarily loosened her tight grip on the child.
Noah instantly dropped a tiny, highly advanced digital recording device perfectly onto the wooden porch.
He had secretly stolen the device from Julian's home office desk earlier that morning.
The tiny device was actively broadcasting a live audio feed directly to the federal police headquarters.
Vivi's entire confession to kidnapping, extortion, and attempted murder had just been securely recorded by the authorities.
