Chapter 2 - The Stolen Files

The heavy security doors slammed shut behind Clara as she was dragged into the basement holding room.
Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs as the armed guards threw her onto a cold metal chair.
She had waited five agonizing years to finally hold her precious son again.
Now, she was entirely trapped in a windowless room while the woman who stole her life escaped.
Upstairs in the grand ballroom, Julian aggressively pushed past the remaining security guards.
He demanded to know exactly how Vivi had managed to hide such a massive secret from him.
Vivi simply laughed and pulled a folded legal document from her expensive designer clutch.
She shoved the papers directly into Julian's chest with a deeply arrogant smirk.
"Clara voluntarily signed away all of her parental rights the day Noah was born," Vivi stated flawlessly.
Julian scanned the official adoption papers, his blood running completely cold.
The signature at the bottom perfectly matched Clara's distinct handwriting.
"You are a monster for keeping a mother away from her child," Julian growled fiercely.
Vivi stepped closer and whispered directly into his ear.
"You signed these documents too, Julian, right below her name."
Julian stared in absolute horror at his own signature, realizing he had been completely drugged and manipulated years ago.
He turned on his heel and sprinted frantically toward the basement security holding cells.
He needed to look Clara in the eyes and completely apologize for failing her.
When he finally burst through the heavy basement doors, the security guards were lying unconscious on the floor.
The holding cell was completely empty.
Clara was completely gone, leaving only her tan maid uniform discarded on the chair.
Julian frantically pulled out his phone to order a complete lockdown of the hotel.

Suddenly, his private phone rang with an unknown caller identification.
"If you ever want to see Clara alive again, you will transfer fifty million dollars to my offshore account tonight," a distorted voice demanded over the line.
