Chapter 10 - A New Dawn

Five years later.

The sun streamed through the massive bay windows of the estate, casting a warm, golden glow across the hardwood floors.

David stood in the kitchen, wearing a flour-covered apron, trying desperately to flip a pancake while a five-year-old Leo tugged on his pant leg.

"Daddy, it's burning!" Leo shrieked with laughter.

"It's not burning, it's just extra crispy!" David laughed back, tossing the slightly blackened pancake onto a plate just as Lily ran into the kitchen, wearing a princess dress and mismatched rain boots.

Clara walked in a moment later, her hair tied back in a messy bun, looking radiant and rested. She leaned against the kitchen island, holding a steaming mug of tea, watching her family.

David looked over at her, and the breath caught in his throat, just as it had the very first time he saw her.

He wiped his hands on a towel and walked over to his wife. He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close, burying his face in her neck.

"I love you," he murmured against her skin.

"I love you too," Clara smiled, resting her head against his chest.

They had walked through the darkest valley of betrayal, pride, and manipulation. They had lost everything, only to rebuild something stronger, deeper, and completely unbreakable. The roadside where they had once collided in tragedy was a lifetime away. Here, in the light of their home, surrounded by the laughter of their children, they had finally found their forever.
