Chapter 4 - The Safehouse

Alejandro threw his body violently in front of Elena to shield her from the impending gunfire.
Before the masked men could pull their triggers, Elena reached under the slit of her elegant dress.
She retrieved a sleek, suppressed pistol strapped to her thigh and fired three rapid shots with lethal precision.
Three of the masked attackers dropped their weapons, falling to the concrete floor in agony.
The fourth attacker panicked and sprinted away into the dark depths of the parking garage.
Alejandro stared at the quiet barista, his mind completely unable to process the highly trained killer standing before him.
"We need to move before my father sends his elite squad," Elena commanded, her voice devoid of any emotion.
She grabbed the keys from Alejandro's frozen hand and rushed to a dusty sedan parked in the corner.
Alejandro climbed into the passenger seat as she hotwired the engine in less than ten seconds.
They tore out of the garage, the tires screaming against the pavement as they disappeared into the city's neon-lit streets.
The silence inside the car was suffocating as they drove for miles to evade capture.
"Who are you really?" Alejandro finally asked, his voice raw with betrayal.
"I am the weapon my father created to inherit his empire," Elena answered without taking her eyes off the road.
"But I spent the last five years secretly gathering evidence to burn his syndicate to the ground."
She pulled the car into an abandoned industrial warehouse on the edge of the harbor.
They stepped out into the damp, freezing air and entered a hidden freight elevator.
The elevator descended deep underground, opening into a highly sophisticated, state-of-the-art safehouse.
Servers hummed loudly in the background, surrounded by heavily encrypted computer monitors.
"I have every financial record, blackmail file, and murder contract my father ever ordered," Elena explained.
"But the data is locked behind a military-grade encryption firewall that I cannot break."
Alejandro walked over to the main terminal, his brilliant technological mind automatically analyzing the complex code.
"That is why you manipulated me into falling for you," Alejandro realized bitterly.
"You needed the best software engineer in the world to crack your father's vault."
Elena looked away, tears of genuine guilt shining in her eyes.
Alejandro typed a rapid sequence of commands into the keyboard, breaking the first layer of security in mere seconds.

The screen flashed bright green, revealing a hidden folder titled with the date of Alejandro's tenth birthday.
He opened the folder and saw a video of his own father, kneeling in front of a much younger Richard Sterling.
