Chapter 4 - The Safe House

Before the hidden sniper could pull the trigger, Noah violently tackled Harold entirely to the filthy concrete floor.
A high-caliber bullet silently chipped the massive concrete pillar exactly where Harold's heart had just been.
"Stay completely flat on the ground and crawl toward the rusted service elevator," Harold whispered painfully.
They dragged themselves desperately through the thick dirt while the sniper furiously searched for another clean angle.
Harold's highly trained security team suddenly swarmed the abandoned factory, laying down heavy covering fire.
Under the protective chaos, Harold and Noah managed to quickly slip into the rusty metal elevator box.
Harold swiped a heavily encrypted digital keycard, and the elevator unexpectedly plummeted deep underground.
They descended rapidly for what felt like an absolute eternity before the rusty doors finally slid open.
Instead of a dark, dirty basement, Noah was entirely shocked to see a brilliantly lit, ultra-modern bunker.
Sleek white walls, advanced medical bays, and massive computer mainframes entirely filled the massive subterranean room.
A team of highly trained medical professionals immediately rushed forward to properly treat Harold's bleeding wound.
"Welcome to my primary secure safe house, Noah," Harold said as a doctor swiftly cut away his ruined shirt.
Noah stood completely frozen, totally overwhelmed by the impossible technology hiding far beneath the ruined factory.
Harold stubbornly refused pain medication and gestured for Noah to quickly follow him to a massive digital table.
With a few quick keystrokes, Harold pulled up a highly complex web of photographs and financial documents.
"Your father hid a fully encrypted hard drive entirely before they finally caught up to him," Harold explained.
"That specific drive securely contains enough raw evidence to completely dismantle this entire criminal syndicate."
Noah stared directly at the glowing screen, fully realizing his ordinary father was actually a highly courageous secret hero.
"But why did he not just confidently give the drive directly to the federal police?" Noah asked quietly.
Harold grimaced heavily in pain as the skilled doctor tightly stitched his bleeding side.
"Because the syndicate has highly paid, lethal spies buried entirely deep inside every level of law enforcement."
Harold gracefully tapped the screen again, instantly expanding a high-resolution surveillance photograph taken in a dark alley.
"They also have ruthless spies hiding in the absolute last places you would ever possibly think to look."
Noah leaned closer to the bright screen and felt his young blood run completely ice cold.
The photograph clearly showed a man greedily accepting a massive briefcase full of thick cash from an armed thug.
The man receiving the illegal, heavily tainted money was Mr. Vance, the angry manager from the city deli.
"Your boss was specifically paid to deeply monitor you and keep a very close eye on your daily movements," Harold revealed grimly.
"They heavily suspected your father gave you the encrypted drive entirely before he mysteriously died."
Noah stumbled backward as the terrifying, sickening reality of his entire life finally crashed entirely down on him.

Suddenly, the massive steel blast doors of the underground bunker began to loudly hiss and violently unlock.
Harold's chief of security shouted loudly that someone had remotely, successfully overridden their impenetrable firewall.
