Chapter 3 - The Midnight Chase

The heavy garbage truck violently slammed into the side of their SUV for a second time.
Bright orange sparks flew brilliantly into the dark night as the two massive vehicles aggressively scraped against each other.
Harold remained entirely calm, tapping a small button on his armrest to communicate directly with his team.
"Initiate evasive maneuvers, do not let them entirely pin us against the concrete barricade," Harold ordered smoothly.
The driver expertly downshifted the gears and slammed his heavy foot entirely onto the gas pedal.
The armored SUV immediately surged forward, narrowly escaping the truck's crushing metal jaws.
Noah clutched his seatbelt tightly as his heart hammered wildly against his bruised ribs.
Through the rain-streaked windows, he saw two entirely black motorcycles speeding up right behind them.
The mysterious riders were dressed entirely in black leather and carried fully automatic weapons.
One of the riders aggressively raised his gun and fired a relentless spray of bullets at their vehicle.
The heavy rounds pinged loudly against the bulletproof glass, leaving terrifying white spiderweb cracks in the window.
"They found us much faster than I originally anticipated," Harold muttered, pulling a sleek handgun from his jacket.
Noah curled into a tight protective ball, absolutely terrified that the shattering glass was going to completely fail.
The SUV convoy took a sharp, highly dangerous turn down a narrow industrial alleyway.
One of Harold's heavily armored escort vehicles intentionally swerved, completely blocking the path of the approaching motorcycles.
A massive fiery explosion illuminated the dark alley as the speeding bikes crashed violently into the sudden blockade.
Noah gasped desperately for air, truly hoping the terrifying midnight chase was finally over.
But the driver suddenly slammed hard on the brakes, causing the heavy SUV to violently skid across the wet pavement.
A reinforced steel barricade had been intentionally placed entirely across the exit of the road.
There was absolutely nowhere left for the trapped armored vehicle to safely escape.
"We have to completely abandon the vehicles and proceed entirely on foot," Harold commanded immediately.
The elite guards kicked the heavy doors open and began firing tactical suppression shots into the dark shadows.
Harold grabbed Noah firmly by the shoulder and dragged him aggressively out into the freezing rain.
They sprinted wildly toward a rusted chain-link fence bordering a completely abandoned factory building.
Deadly bullets zipped dangerously past their heads, forcefully chipping away chunks of the nearby brick walls.
Noah slipped heavily in the deep mud, badly scraping his bare knees on the jagged rocks.
Harold grabbed the boy's jacket and pulled him forcefully back onto his shaking feet.
They managed to miraculously slip through a massive hole in the rusted fence just in time.
They ran deep into the dark, incredibly echoing corridors of the decaying industrial building.
When they finally stopped to desperately catch their breath, Harold leaned heavily against a massive concrete pillar.
Noah suddenly noticed a dark crimson stain rapidly spreading across Harold's expensive white shirt.
The powerful old man had taken a direct bullet to his side during the highly chaotic escape.

"It is just a minor graze, we absolutely cannot afford to stop moving," Harold lied through tightly gritted teeth.
Noah looked down and saw a glowing red laser dot slowly crawling directly up Harold's chest.
