Chapter 6 - The Resuscitation

The freezing harbor water violently burned Dora's lungs as she held her breath.
The heavy armored SUV plunged deeper into the pitch-black ocean, dragging them toward a watery grave.
Dora ignored her own desperate instinct to swim toward the surface and safety.
She forcefully grabbed Victor's heavy shoulders, frantically shaking his unconscious body.
He didn't respond at all.
She quickly unbuckled his seatbelt, her fingers slipping awkwardly on the wet metal latch.
Victor's massive, muscular frame was incredibly heavy, practically dead weight in the freezing water.
Dora wrapped her arms securely under his arms and kicked aggressively off the backseat.
She pulled him out through the shattered back window, scraping her own shoulder painfully against the jagged glass.
Her lungs absolutely screamed for oxygen as she kicked her legs desperately toward the faint moonlight above.
The terrible pressure in her chest grew agonizingly with every single inch they rose.
Just as her vision began to blur into dark shadows, they violently broke the surface.
Dora gasped desperately for air, violently coughing up harsh, salty seawater.
She kept Victor's head firmly above the freezing water, furiously paddling toward a wooden maintenance dock nearby.
Leo was already waiting on the dock, reaching down quickly to help drag his massive boss completely out of the water.
They pulled Victor onto the rotting wooden planks, completely exhausted and shivering violently in the cold wind.
"He isn't breathing, Dora!" Leo shouted in pure panic, frantically checking for a pulse.
Dora didn't waste a single second crying or screaming.
She immediately dropped to her bruised knees and began aggressive chest compressions on the mafia boss.
She counted the beats out loud, remembering the exact rhythm from her mandatory diner CPR training.
"Come back to me, Victor," she whispered fiercely between rescue breaths.
After two agonizing minutes of compressions, Victor violently convulsed on the wooden dock.
He rolled aggressively onto his side, coughing up massive amounts of dark seawater.
Dora collapsed back onto the wet planks, weeping quietly with overwhelming relief.
Victor slowly opened his dark eyes, instantly searching the dark dock until his gaze locked entirely on her.
He reached out a trembling hand and gently cupped her freezing, wet cheek.
"You saved my life again, mia luce," Victor rasped softly, his voice completely raw.
Leo abruptly interrupted the tender moment, aggressively pulling out his loaded sidearm.
He didn't aim the gun toward the dark streets checking for enemies.
May you like
Leo pointed the barrel of the loaded gun directly at Dora's chest.
"I am sorry, boss, but she is a dangerous liability to the syndicate, and Arthur will keep using her against us," Leo stated coldly.
