Chapter 9 - The Corrupt Badge
The police officer unholstered his heavy duty weapon and aimed it directly at David's exhausted chest.
"You have caused my employers a massive amount of unnecessary trouble tonight, Mr. Vance," the corrupt cop sneered.
David pulled Sophie securely behind him, realizing his immense wealth had made him a target for a much larger syndicate.
The local police force was clearly on the massive payroll of the exact same criminal organization that employed Vanessa.
Vanessa walked completely out of the dark woods, her beautiful face covered in mud and her clothes completely ruined.
She was heavily bleeding from a minor graze wound, but she looked more furious and dangerous than ever before.
"Put them both in the back of the cruiser, Officer, I will deal with them at the warehouse," Vanessa commanded coldly.
The corrupt cop aggressively shoved David and his crying daughter into the cramped, freezing backseat of the police car.
He slammed the heavy doors shut, engaging the child locks so they were completely trapped inside the metal cage.
The officer climbed securely into the driver's seat and aggressively sped down the winding, highly dangerous mountain road.
David knew that if they reached the abandoned warehouse, they would be executed and entirely disappear without a trace.
He noticed the thick plexiglass partition separating the front and back seats was slightly cracked near the heavy metal frame.
He quietly removed his heavy leather belt, wrapping it securely around his hand to form a makeshift, solid weapon.
He waited perfectly until the speeding cruiser approached a sharp, incredibly dangerous hairpin turn on the slick mountain road.
David violently smashed his belt buckle entirely through the cracked plexiglass, grabbing the officer completely by the throat.
The corrupt cop choked wildly in panic, completely losing absolute control of the heavy, speeding steering wheel.
The heavy police cruiser violently skidded aggressively across the wet asphalt, completely smashing through the metal guardrail.
They violently rolled down the steep, muddy embankment, crashing heavily through thick pine trees and heavy brush.
The car finally slammed aggressively into a massive oak tree, completely deploying the airbags and shattering every window.
David groaned in absolute agony, his entire body bruised and bleeding from the horrific, violent crash.
He frantically kicked the jammed door open and successfully pulled a completely terrified, but uninjured Sophie from the wreckage.
They crawled desperately up the muddy hill, completely praying they had finally entirely escaped the nightmare.
As they reached the top of the embankment, a heavy spotlight suddenly illuminated them completely in the darkness.

"Hand over the real flash drive right now, David, or she dies in front of you," the wicked woman demanded fiercely.
