Chapter 10 - The Final Checkmate
David stood completely frozen on the muddy embankment, staring at the deadly weapon pointed at his daughter's head.
He was entirely exhausted, physically broken, and completely out of desperate options to save his precious child.
"I am completely done playing your twisted games, Vanessa," David stated with a cold, absolute finality in his voice.

"I never actually intended to give you the physical drive, because I uploaded the files weeks ago," David revealed calmly.
Vanessa's arrogant smile completely vanished, replaced by a look of sheer, unadulterated panic and absolute horror.
David explained that he had programmed a highly secure dead-man's switch on his private corporate server last month.
When he failed to enter his daily biometric password this evening, the encrypted files automatically sent themselves to the FBI.
Suddenly, the deafening, incredibly powerful sound of heavy helicopter rotors aggressively filled the dark mountain sky above them.
Three heavily armored federal tactical helicopters completely descended upon the ruined road, shining massive spotlights directly onto Vanessa.
Dozens of heavily armed FBI agents violently swarmed the perimeter, instantly disarming the screaming, frantic woman.
The lead federal director walked confidently over to David, offering a warm blanket and a highly reassuring smile.
"We have safely secured the entire syndicate, Mr. Vance, your family is completely safe now," the director announced proudly.
Vanessa and her entire corrupt network of accomplices were officially sentenced to life in a maximum-security federal prison.
David successfully rebuilt his massive empire, dedicating his life entirely to protecting and cherishing his wonderful little girl.
