Chapter 8 - The Betrayal

Luke stood there looking down at me with an expression of pure, arrogant pity.

He explained that he had never actually betrayed me to a rival mob boss.

Marcus was nothing but a low-level federal informant acting as a convenient, disposable middleman.

Luke had been working deep undercover for the FBI for the past five years to dismantle my empire.

The sniper strike that paralyzed me was an officially sanctioned federal operation meant to assassinate me.

When I survived the shot, Luke stayed undercover to gather enough evidence to seize my entire fortune legally.

He laughed coldly, admitting that hiring Emma was just a cruel game to speed up my psychological decline.

My hands shook with a blinding, unstoppable rage as I gripped my weapon.

I told Luke that a real federal agent would never resort to kidnapping an innocent elderly woman.

Luke shrugged, stating that collateral damage was just a necessary part of the job.

He raised his service weapon and aimed it directly at my chest, preparing to finish what the sniper started.

Before he could pull the trigger, Emma let out a furious scream and lunged forward.

She shoved my wheelchair violently to the right, throwing me completely out of the line of fire.

A deafening gunshot echoed through the small, concrete office.

I watched in absolute horror as the bullet tore straight through Emma's chest.

She collapsed to the cold floor, gasping for air as blood rapidly bloomed across her shirt.

Time seemed to slow down completely as I stared at the woman who had just sacrificed everything for me.

I roared in absolute fury, racking the shotgun and firing a devastating blast.

The buckshot hit Luke squarely in the shoulder, throwing him backward through the glass window.

Marcus tried to run, but Vincenzo entered the room and dropped him with a single, precise shot.

I threw myself out of my wheelchair, crawling desperately across the bloody floor toward Emma's still body.
