Chapter 8 - The Rescue Mission

Six heavily armed Navy SEALs swung through the shattered windows on thick black rappelling ropes.
The tactical team had scaled the outside of the massive hotel completely undetected in the darkness.
Glass rained down like deadly confetti as the operators hit the floor with perfect military precision.
Before Damian could even turn around, a SEAL ruthlessly kicked the back of his knee, forcing him to the ground.
Another operator slammed the butt of his rifle into Bennett’s jaw, knocking him completely unconscious.
The lead operator stepped forward, lowered his night-vision goggles, and snapped a sharp salute to me.
I returned the salute, ignoring the heavy wind whipping through the destroyed penthouse.
I ordered the squad to immediately secure the control room and unlock the massive ballroom doors below.
The SEALs moved with terrifying efficiency, overriding the hacked security system in a matter of seconds.
I watched the security monitors as the heavy steel barricades in the ballroom finally lifted.
Dozens of local police officers flooded into the room below, arresting the remaining rogue mercenaries.
I saw Julian and Sarah clinging to each other tightly, completely safe from the carnage.
My father was sitting on the floor, looking up at the security cameras with an expression of utter defeat.
His criminal empire was entirely destroyed, his favorite son was a traitor, and his life was ruined.
I walked over to where Damian was lying face down on the carpet in heavy plastic zip-ties.
I knelt beside him and whispered that true power isn't built on fear and inherited money.
I told him true power is knowing exactly when to let a stupid enemy think they have won.
Two federal agents marched into the room and dragged my screaming brother toward the elevator.
I walked over to the ruined computer console, retrieved the fried silver drive, and put it back in my pocket.
The mission was a total success, and my family's dark legacy was finally over.

I took a deep breath of the cold night air, allowing myself a rare moment of complete relief.
Then, the secure, encrypted satellite phone in my pocket began to violently vibrate.
