Chapter 6 - The Brother's Trap

Bennett's cruel voice echoed through the terrified ballroom, silencing every single guest.

He casually explained that my father had double-crossed the wrong international cartel.

He revealed that he had spent the last two decades infiltrating the Voss business empire just to completely dismantle it tonight.

Bennett looked directly into the camera lens and addressed me by my full military rank.

He told me he knew I had the encrypted flash drive containing the shipping manifests.

He promised to spare the lives of the innocent guests if I surrendered the drive to him immediately.

If I refused, he promised to execute one hostage every five minutes, starting with my brother Damian.

The camera feed suddenly switched to show Damian tied to a chair in the penthouse, bleeding heavily from his nose.

My father dropped to his knees in the middle of the ballroom, his legendary composure finally shattering.

Conrad grabbed my dress with shaking hands, begging me to give Bennett whatever he wanted to save his son.

I looked down at the pathetic man who had banished me for refusing to submit to his absolute control.

I pulled the silver flash drive from my sleeve and held it up to the security camera near the ceiling.

I told Bennett I would gladly trade the drive for my brother, but only if we made the exchange face-to-face.

Bennett laughed through the speakers, mocking my predictable military bravery.

He unlocked the private service elevator in the corner of the ballroom and invited me to come up alone.

I walked toward the elevator, but Sarah grabbed my arm and strictly warned me it was a fatal trap.

I leaned in close to Sarah and whispered a classified operational code phrase directly into her ear.

Her eyes widened in pure shock as she realized exactly what I was planning to do.

I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the penthouse level.

The heavy metal doors closed, leaving me completely alone with my thoughts as I ascended to face my worst nightmare.

When the doors finally opened, I walked out and immediately pointed a stolen handgun at Bennett’s chest.

May you like

Bennett didn't even flinch.

He simply smiled, snapped his fingers, and Damian casually untied his own ropes, stood up, and pulled out a gun of his own.
