Chapter 9 - The Monster
Elena felt the room spin violently around her.
The four beautiful children she had grown to love were stolen.
Benny Carver took a step closer, raising the pistol directly to her forehead.
"Adrian is a complete psychopath who builds his perfect family by force," Benny growled.
"I'm going to kill you just to watch him suffer."
Before Benny could pull the trigger, the bathroom door exploded inward off its hinges.
Adrian stood in the doorway, a terrifying vision of pure, unbridled violence.
He moved faster than humanly possible, crossing the room in two massive strides.
He grabbed Benny’s wrist, snapping the bone with a sickening crunch.
Benny screamed in agony as the gun clattered onto the marble floor.
Adrian did not stop there.
He drove his knee into Benny's chest, shattering his ribs, before hurling him against the mirror.
The glass shattered into a thousand jagged pieces.
Adrian drew a hunting knife from his tuxedo jacket and pinned Benny to the ruined wall.
Elena stood frozen in horror as Adrian brutally executed the man in front of her.
Adrian dropped the bloody knife and turned to Elena, his chest heaving.
He did not look apologetic or ashamed of the horrific violence.
He walked over to her, his dark eyes filled with absolute, terrifying obsession.
"I told you I would kill anyone who tried to take you from me," he whispered.
He pulled her into his arms, wrapping her in an embrace that felt more like a cage.
Elena rested her head against his chest, realizing just how dangerous her husband truly was.
He was a monster, but he was a monster who would burn the world down to keep her safe.
