Chapter 6 - The Escape Plan

Richard collapsed to the cold stone floor with a heavy, sickening thud.
The glass syringe shattered violently on the ground, spilling the toxic blue liquid into the grout of the tiles.
Elena quickly dropped the extinguisher and frantically untied the thick ropes binding Julian's small, bruised wrists.
The little boy instantly threw his arms around her neck and hugged her tightly, trembling with pure terror.
Elena whispered gently into his ear that they were going to get out of this horrible place tonight.
She quickly searched Richard's unconscious body and grabbed his master security keycard from his suit pocket.
They ran up the concrete basement stairs and headed straight toward the mansion's main underground garage.
Elena knew Richard's ridiculously expensive sports car was parked right by the automatic exit doors.
If she could somehow start the powerful engine, they could easily smash right through the front security gates.
They successfully sneaked into the massive, dimly lit garage without triggering any external alarms.
Elena unlocked the sleek black car using the key fob and securely buckled Julian into the passenger seat.
She climbed into the driver's seat, stepped on the brake, and pressed the engine ignition button.
The powerful engine roared to life with an incredible, deafening sound that echoed off the concrete walls.
But just as she shifted the transmission into drive, the massive garage doors violently slammed shut.

The blinding overhead fluorescent lights flipped on all at once, illuminating the entire space.
Victoria Hawthorne was standing completely still in front of the car, calmly aiming a loaded shotgun directly at the windshield.
