Chapter 5 - The Master Server

Maya stepped out from behind the crates, her mind struggling to process the impossible sight.

Eleanor turned and looked at Maya with eyes full of sorrow and desperate love.

"You are alive," Maya breathed out, her voice trembling in the damp air.

"I had to fake my death to protect you from Isabella's father, and later from Isabella herself," Eleanor explained softly.

Carter nodded, stepping back to give the mother and daughter space.

"I only called Isabella to feed her a false location on the other side of the city," Carter revealed.

"We needed her distracted while we retrieve the core assets."

Eleanor walked over and gently touched Maya's bruised cheek.

"Isabella has been slowly poisoning Julian to force him into signing over the master server rights," Eleanor said.

"That black key card is the only physical bypass to the Vance Tower's central financial mainframe."

Maya realized Julian had given her the ultimate weapon to destroy the tyrant who enslaved her.

"The server requires the key and a biometric scan of a true Vance heir to freeze the accounts," Eleanor continued.

"If we do not lock the mainframe by midnight, Isabella will transfer billions to an offshore ghost network."

Maya nodded, suddenly feeling a surge of undeniable strength and purpose.

She was no longer the voiceless, invisible assistant meant to hold bags and open doors.

"Then let's go to the tower and end this," Maya declared fiercely.

Carter handed Maya a spare pistol from his tactical belt.

"The tower will be heavily guarded, but the annual charity gala is tonight, which gives us a crowd to hide in," Carter strategized.

Suddenly, a massive explosion shattered the warehouse's reinforced skylight.

Shattered glass rained down around them as heavily armed mercenaries repelled through the roof.

Dozens of red laser sights cut through the dusty air, locking directly onto their chests.

Isabella walked through the rusted front doors of the warehouse, flanked by private soldiers.

"Did you really think I wouldn't track the GPS in my own security vehicle, Carter?" Isabella laughed mockingly.

Isabella raised a silver handgun and pointed it directly at Eleanor's heart.

"I always knew you were alive, you old ghost, and now I get to bury you for real."
