Chapter 6 - The Negotiation

"Julian," Victoria said, her voice dripping with ice. "Did you really think a few rent-a-cops and a signal jammer could stop me?"

"It seems to be working," Julian chuckled. "You have five minutes until the OmniCorp executives walk out. And even if you make it, I’ve already compromised their escrow servers. You've lost, Victoria. Sell me your firm for pennies on the dollar, and I’ll call off my men."

"You want my firm?" Victoria stalled, watching a progress bar on Jax’s screen hit 60%. "You don't have the capital to buy me out."

"I do now," Julian said smugly. "I’ve heavily shorted your stock. When this deal collapses at 9:00 AM, I’ll make a billion dollars in twenty minutes."

"You always were predictable, Julian," Victoria sneered. "Relying on digital tricks because you lack the stomach for real business."

"Keep talking, Victoria," Julian laughed. "It won't change the clock."

"Upload complete," Jax whispered, hitting the enter key. The progress bar flashed green.

The heavy glass doors of the conference room shattered as the security guards finally broke through. But Jax was ready. He grabbed a heavy fire extinguisher from the wall, pulled the pin, and sprayed a massive cloud of thick white foam into the hallway, blinding the guards.

"The elevator is active! Go!" Jax yelled.
