Chapter 4 - The Breach

Victoria refused to die in a metal box. She looked at the ceiling hatch of the freight elevator.
"Boost me up," she ordered.
Jax looked at her pristine ivory cashmere coat and stilettos. "You're kidding, right? You'll ruin your outfit."
"I am about to lose seventy million dollars, Jax. I do not care about the coat."
Victoria kicked off her designer heels, tossed them into the corner, and climbed onto Jax's shoulders. She pushed the heavy metal hatch open and pulled herself onto the roof of the elevator. The elevator shaft was pitch black, smelling of ozone and grease.
Jax pulled himself up beside her. "There’s a maintenance door ten feet up," he whispered, pointing to a faint sliver of light.
Victoria climbed the greasy ladder in her silk stockings, the crocodile briefcase strapped across her chest. Jax kicked the maintenance door open. They spilled out into the plush, carpeted hallway of the fiftieth floor—the executive suites.
Standing at the end of the hallway were three men in tactical black suits. Julian's private security.
"Get the briefcase!" the lead guard shouted, reaching into his jacket.
Jax didn't hesitate. He threw his heavy steel wrench like a tomahawk. It caught the lead guard in the chest, sending him crashing into a glass partition.

"Run!" Jax yelled.
Victoria sprinted down the hallway, her stockinged feet slipping on the polished marble floors. She ducked behind a massive oak desk as gunfire shattered the glass walls behind her. This wasn't corporate espionage anymore. This was a war.
