Chapter 6 - The Setup

The cold steel of the handcuffs bit painfully into Grace's wrists.

Federal agents were systematically tearing her beautiful kitchen apart, pulling files and smashing drywall.

"I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about!" Grace cried out as they dragged her toward the door.

Before they could push her out into the waiting armored vehicle, Julian stepped calmly out of the living room.

He was already wearing a flawless three-piece suit, holding his legal credentials in the air.

"Release my client immediately, Agent Miller," Julian ordered with absolute, chilling authority.

The lead agent scoffed but stopped moving, recognizing the most feared defense attorney on the East Coast.

"Your client is the sole listed CEO of a massive money laundering front disguised as a development firm," the agent stated.

Grace felt the blood completely drain from her face.

Julian smoothly pulled a thick dossier from his briefcase and handed it to the federal agent.

"My client's signature was entirely forged by her husband, Ethan Walker," Julian explained calmly.

"Ethan transferred all illicit corporate assets into her name three weeks ago knowing this exact raid was coming."

The agent flipped through the forensic evidence, his aggressive demeanor slowly fading into reluctant confusion.

Grace realized with horrifying clarity that Ethan had never intended to just leave her for Lauren.

He and Lauren had planned to frame Grace for their massive financial crimes so they could escape to a non-extradition country with clean cash.

"Where is Ethan Walker right now?" the agent demanded angrily.

Julian checked his gold wristwatch with a perfectly practiced sigh of inconvenience.

"According to my private investigators, he is currently boarding a private jet at the Hawthorne airstrip," Julian replied.

The federal agents immediately sprinted out of the house, shouting urgent orders into their radios.

Julian quickly unlocked Grace's handcuffs using a master key he kept hidden in his pocket.

Liam and Caleb emerged from the hallway shadows, both wearing dark tactical jackets and grim expressions.

"The FBI will never catch them in time," Liam stated coldly.

"Get in the car, Grace," Caleb said, racking the slide of a suppressed pistol.

"We are going to hunt your husband down ourselves."
